The Wine
If you’re ever in McLaren Vale, make sure you visit Wirra Wirra. It’s a progressive, innovative cellar where they’re serious about two things: making the best quality wine they can, and having a good time while they’re doing it. Although Wirra Wirra can trace its roots back to 1894, its modern story begins in 1969 when two cousins rebuilt the long abandoned winery. Three years later, they produced Church Block – a blend of Grenache and Shiraz – which was met with much acclaim. Over time, Cabernet became a staple part of the blend, but after many requests to reinstate the old classic, Original Blend was born. Hand picked, hand plunged fruit is oak fermented prior to nine months’ cask ageing. Perfect now with roasts and cheeses.
