Introducing the
thought-provoking
Wine Club
It gives me enormous pleasure to welcome you to The Sunday Times Wine Club.
It’s been 50 years since we first began offering wines to the readers of The Sunday Times and in that time we have grown into a worldwide family of more than 450 winemakers who welcome you to the Club today.
Back in 1973 it was a young Tony Laithwaite and Hugh Johnson (photo below) who, after an exposé in The Sunday Times on the scandal of fake wine, had the idea to create a Club with the explicit aim of bringing wines of character and authenticity direct from the vineyards to the wine lover.
Times and tastes have changed but our ethos remains the same and we have never lost the sheer joy of opening a bottle, discovering something exceptional and sharing it with friends and family.
That’s why as a member, as well as enjoying exceptional service, fast delivery and great wines, you’ll have exclusive access to regular dispatches from the world of wine, wine tastings and of course wines of integrity and personality that will give enormous amounts of pleasure.
So, wherever you are on the wine route, Wine Director Liz Smith and I look forward to introducing you to some great wines and sharing a glass with you.
