The Wine
This is a smooth, plummy Merlot from the Maipo Valley’s Viña Tarapacá, one of the most beautiful wineries in the world. Its founder, Don Francisco de Rojas, travelled to France in the 1870s and returned with vines from Bordeaux and Burgundy, planting them in the perfect grape growing environment around his classic colonial style house. In 1992 new owners took over and invested considerably in the vineyards and winery, adding a humidity and temperature controlled cellar with a 4,000 barrel capacity for maturing the wines. All of this has taken quality a few notches even higher. An all-time customer favourite, this juicy, rich and fruit laden Merlot is an ideal choice to go with lamb chops, rich tomatoey pasta, or tasty sausages and mash.
