The Wine
Izadi may be a young bodega compared to many in Rioja but it is certainly up there with the best in quality terms. Every aspect of its showpiece cellar is geared to producing the finest wine from top quality, old vine grapes. Wine magazine described the wines as having a “stylish, delicious, modern style”. Izadi’s winemaker, the brilliant Angel Ortega, has helped the winery achieve great heights – Wine & Spirits magazine named it as one of the World’s Top 100 wineries. The 2011 Reserva is 100% Tempranillo long aged in French and US oak barrels and particularly concentrated thanks to an excellent vintage and 50 year old vines. Intense red fruit is infused with fragrant vanilla and mocha. Decant an hour in advance and serve with rack of lamb.
