The Wine
Mike Roberts set up his estate on the Sussex Downs in 1994 and with the launch of his inaugural 1996 vintage won a Trophy. The family can now boast over 198 medals and 26 Trophies including ‘Best International Sparkling Wine Trophy’ three times. Their creations were served at the Queen Mother’s 100th birthday, the Golden Jubilee, royal weddings and President Obama’s state visit. But not even the Palace gets delivery of this wine. It’s a blend of red grapes Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, taken off the skins early so juice remains white. With the secondary fermentation in bottle and aged long on its lees, just like Champagne, this is bubbly of superb richness and length. Just find a special occasion, chill down a bottle and serve with canapés.
