Named after the shaggy purple flowers that carpet much of central and southern California, like masses of little purple brushes, Purple Owl Pinot Noir is as pretty as its striking watercolour label. It’s a special wine, too. No other grape achieves quite the same elegance. Famed for the fabulously expensive red wines of Burgundy, as well as the mesmerisingly supple Pinots of Oregon and New Zealand, this time it reaches a peak of intense fruitiness. This is a glass that Pinot fans are going to love for its silky texture too, and its generous berry flavours and soft touch of oak. Try with chicken in red wine sauce or some of your favourite cheeses. Pinot Noir is tricky to get right so it makes sense to stock up when you find a good one!
