The Wine
RedHeads was Tony Laithwaite’s moment of inspiration that became a reality in 2002 – Bordeaux “garagiste winemaking without the pretension”. It’s production on varying degrees of very small to minuscule, to make wines that are really out of this world. These winemakers search out the very finest grapes, bring them to this ultra low tech cellar and handcraft the wines. It’s a true labour of love. Dan Graham is the new head winemaker at RedHeads, supervising this fabulous dark fruit red. In 2014 they picked out parcels of Cabernet, Merlot and big spice Petit Verdot, from top areas Langhorne Creek and the McLaren Vale. Supple red fruits with a hint of cedar but still with quite a punch – the wine (say the team) is a dream with kangaroo steak.

"Bright, minty, blackcurranty. Riotously fresh, yet it's made from the big beasts Cab, Merlot and PV"
