The Wine
While Penfolds Grange is a muscle bound, cross regional blend of South Australia’s finest Shiraz, RWT focuses purely on being the definitive expression of the Barossa’s greatest grape. Fruit is selected for its aromatic qualities and smooth texture rather than its power, which makes for a wine that is already drinking beautifully right now – and one that often outshines its more expensive sibling. Like Grange, RWT is a wine that reveals different qualities as it breathes. “Demands decanting – ingested air will tease out evasive aromatics and expose structural subtleties” says Penfolds Chief Winemaker Peter Gago. A year in French oak barrels (half new, half a year old) softens this masterful Shiraz to silken perfection. Ideal with lamb.

"Black cherries-scented nose with hints of cedar, toast, cracked pepper. This is a truly great RWT!"
