The Cider
You may have noticed the renaissance in small scale cider making in recent years. In 2004, near Glastonbury, two young enthusiasts, Andrew Quinlan and Neil Macdonald, were enjoying a glass of cider and a hog roast when they decided to become part of it. Today they’re based at West Bradley Orchards, where cider has been made since 1850. A drift of Old Spots, the original orchard pigs, roam among the trees and complete the rural idyll. They’re allowed to hoe into the apple pulp after pressing in return for providing the lads with a handy second income. Reveller is light and refreshing with a tangy note of freshly squeezed lime on the finish. A palate cleansing counterpoint to a hearty roast pork dinner or crispy pork belly with apple sauce.
