The Wine
You may have already met the La Cantera Crianza – one of our bestselling reds of all time. This superb Reserva edition comes from San Valero, one of region’s top cellars, most recently awarded first and second places at the 75th Anniversary of the Consejo Regulador of Cariñena, and its wine chosen to serve to the king. Outstanding winemaker Javier Domeque selected grapes from vines up to 65 years old – ancient equates to more flavour – and after fermentation allowed the wine to rest for a couple of years in American oak to lend toasty vanilla and spice to the ripe berry fruit. Now it has enjoyed a further eight years in bottle, the wine is beautifully mellow – delicious on its own or with chicken, cured meats or Spanish-style rice dishes.
