J Opi Malbec 2014

Malbec would be little more than a relic of Bordeaux and Cahors were it not for Argentina. Having adopted the grape, it now makes the world’s most impressive examples, including this red, which scooped ‘Best Malbec of Argentina’ on its debut vintage.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.
The Wine
Great grapes, great skill – this velvety red is a winning combination made by Opi (aka Rodolfo) Sadler. Opi was given his childhood nickname by his sister and it stuck. Such a gentle, shy, affable and modest man, it just seems to fit. On a recent visit we tried to get him to reveal how he makes wines so delicious that he has two permanently in our Top 20! He shrugged and said he simply follows the way his family has always made wine. That’s typical Opi – but not quite believable. The truth is he has a gift – even if he doesn’t know it. Though the laughter in his eyes suggests that maybe he does. He crafts this great red from hand picked grapes grown high and oak ages it for six months. Enjoy with spicy sausages, pasta or beef casserole.

The smoothest Malbec ever. I can’t wait to get home from work and open a bottle. It’s so good
