The Wine
This is a supremely rare white from the foot of northern Rhône’s hallowed hill of Hermitage, where vineyards mostly produce fine reds. The characterful white Rhône grape Marsanne ripens to absolute perfection on this suntrap spot, too. In the hands of third generation winemaker Marcel Guigal, it produces a rich white Crozes of remarkable balance and grace. Wine Advocate awards this 2015 90 points, while Marcel Guigal himself says the vintage is the best of his lifetime. With enticing blossom hints, honeyed stone fruits and lush spice and bright minerality, this wine will become richer with time. Open early and serve with cream sauced white meats.
