Here’s your chance to grab a taste of history. Glenfiddich original is based on the original ‘Straight Malt’, a distinctly fruity, floral whisky that introduced the world to the delights of single malt. Up until 1963, single malts were largely unheard of outside Scotland. Then Sandy Grant Gordon decided to market his single malt abroad and flew to New York with his Glenfiddich Straight Malt in newly introduced, distinctive triangular bottles – designed in 1961 by Hans Schleger to represent the trinity of water, air and malted barley that creates malt whisky. For this whisky, Malt Master Brian Kinsman used Glenfiddich’s extensive archives and samples to recreate the original Straight Malt style that made the whisky market what it is today.
