Pierre Gosset founded the business in 1584 and his wines were for centuries the favourite tipple of French royalty. Today Gosset is in the safekeeping of the Cointreau family, who play an active part in the running of this magnificent Champagne estate. Only hand picked 1er and Grand Cru grapes are ever used, selected from the best of 45 terroirs and carefully blended. Unusually, no malolactic fermentation is permitted. Acidity simply mellows as the wine ages on it lees in bottle – for more than 5 years for this 2006. Savour slowly solo or with fine cuisine.
