Pouilly-Fuissé AOC

Third generation winemaker Sophie Cinier inherited such a tiny plot she doesn’t even own a tractor. Everything is done by hand. Using grapes from her 60 year old vines, this oak aged white is luxuriously creamy with ripe fruit and toasty length.

The Wine
Pouilly Fuissé offers Burgundy lovers real Grand Cru taste at a down to earth price. There’s none better than from Sophie Cinier, who took on the family vineyards (just 2.33 hectares) in 2000, expecting simply to sell on the grapes. However, passion took a hold and now she’s built a new cellar and is making the wine too. Her Pouilly Fuissé slope has some of her oldest vines, up to 80 years old. Grapes for this delicious white came from the sprightly 60 year olds, all picked by hand, with the same meticulous care taken in the cellar. Sophie ages the wine on its lees in barrel for 12 months, which lends a luscious creamy texture to the bright apricot fruit. 2015 was an outstanding vintage for Burgundy, making this an even more delicious drop.

"Sophie’s estate wine output is tiny. I was delighted to secure an allocation from this great vintage"
