The Wine
Roger Luquet founded his family estate in the 19th century. Today it encompasses 26 hectares of vines throughout the Mâconnais, particularly in Pouilly Fuissé and Saint Véran. Grapes for this supreme cuvée came from vines that are on average 50 years old. This means they may produce fewer grapes than they once did but they are of superb quality and concentration. Hand harvesting in the traditional manner with vinification in stainless steel preserves finesse and purity of fruit, while full malolactic fermentation lends the underlying creaminess. From the small but good 2016 vintage, this white is generous and rich with aromas of hazelnuts and toasted almonds and a little exotic fruit. A top wine with seafood or creamy white meat dishes.
