Quantity may have been down for this wine in 2014, but quality is particularly high. It’s a most stylish Savigny from a great grower and a high performing appellation. A delicious tribute to the owners’ great great grandmother and her now old vines.

The Wine
Savigny “can be a marvel of finesse” and “up to the highest Beaune standard” (Hugh Johnson) and this delicious red from Camus-Bruchon is on top form. But hail hit his vineyards, so quantity is down. The grapes, from vines up to a century old, give Guillaume Camus’ wine real presence and depth. It’s a deep cherry red with a wonderful nose of red and black berries, including hints of Morello cherries. Rounded, balanced and powerful with gentle tannins and a long lasting finish. The wine is aged on its lees in well seasoned French oak barrels and bottled without filtration to retain natural richness and balance. We recommend you decant two hours ahead. Enjoy with beef, foie gras, roast game birds or cheeses such as Brie de Meaux or Reblochon.
