The Wine
Margaret River has long been regarded as the home to Australia’s finest Bordeaux style wines. It may only produce 5% of the country’s wines, but it steals the show when it comes to awards and headlines. The region’s most famous pioneer, Vasse Felix, started out in the 1960s, but the Credaro family have been nurturing vines here since 1922. Originally from Italy, they wanted to make a little wine for their own consumption. 60 years later, they decided to make a business of it, expanding their vineyards from 5 hectares to the 140 they now have. They completed a winery in 2003. Now many of their wines score well over 90 Halliday points, every year. With deep, silky, ripe fruit and ageing in part new French oak, this is a superb red meat wine.
