The Wine
This gifted winemaker has been delighting fans with authentic, handcrafted Tuscan reds for two decades. Paolo’s flagship Chianti Riserva is a notch above most other wines of the same status, thanks to his sheer dedication to quality. For this he wins many awards. The Masi property, Fattoria di Basciano, was founded in 1900 by Paolo’s grandfather and lies high up on a hill overlooking the Argomenna valley. It comprises 25 hectares of vines, 15 hectares of olive trees and vast amounts of woodland – a haven for truffles and wild boar. Fourteen months in barrel and three years in bottle for this wine have produced a complex, smooth, classic Chianti to enjoy with calf’s liver, meaty pasta recipes and feathered game such as roast pheasant.
