Château La Clide Cuvée du Moulin 2014
Saint-Emilion Grand Cru AOC

Dense plum and bitter chocolate aromas immediately mark this claret out as classic Saint Emilion, and a Grand Cru. Unusually, it combines equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc from the estate’s meticulously tended vineyard. Luscious now, will keep.

The Wine
Christophe Bardeau is a young, fifth generation Bordeaux winemaker, formerly of Château L'Eglise Clinet in Pomerol. He believes in making accessible wines that taste great ‘right now’, and also in serendipity. Christophe discovered a streak of blue-grey clay soil running through a 60 year old patch of vines on his family estate and guessed this combination would lead to something really special – as indeed it has. He carefully vinifies the Merlot and Cabernet from this plot to make a Saint Emilion Grand Cru that really celebrates the amazing cherry and berry fruit of Bordeaux’s Right Bank. And rubbing shoulders with neighbouring châteaux Tertre Daugay, Quintus and Monbousquet is no bad thing either! Enjoy this wine over the next five years.
