Crisp, citrusy Amoras is a stylish modern white. For quality, value and character, Portugal’s wines are hard to beat. From the country’s most awarded cellar and using native grapes, it’s a brilliantly refreshing glassful. In a handy size, too.

The Wine
Amoras comprises star local grapes Fernão Pires for weight and spice, Arinto for crisp citrus fruit, Vital and Moscatel for aromatic grapey character. Style wise, it’s a great wine for, say, Pinot Grigio lovers wanting to branch out. Portugal has a fascinating array of these indigenous grapes and they are finally getting the attention they deserve thanks to a new generation of winemakers in charge of modern cellars. Amoras is from an estate north of Lisbon, owned for several generations now by the da Silva family. The soil, slopes and breezy conditions close to the Atlantic combine with long sunny days to make this an ideal area for grape growing. Chill and enjoy by itself, with seafood, salad or sushi and raise a glass to modern Portugal.

An excellent light wine. Initially citrus then with minerality and a grapey finish. Excellent value
